"mom" jeans

Ohhh, the dreaded mom jeans! Ya know, I can kind of see why moms tend to wear them. They are a comfy pair of jeans that are easy to get around in while you chase your kiddos!  Because that's all we do all day is chase kids. Why is it that when someone asks a stay at home mom what they do, they respond with chasing kids. I'm guilty of it!! But do we really just chase kids all day?!  I mean yes, that's a good part of it, but all day?! Maybe its because I only have four. I don't have enough to chase......kidding, ha!
What was I talking about again......oh the mom jeans! Did I just really admit to understanding why they wear them?! Oh goodness.....I think my "fashion" blog might need to be revoked. Let me explain! I guess I understand the theory of them. But why do they have to be so awful and ugly?! Im not sure, to be quite honest. Was literally just sitting here pondering as to why. Can't come up with one reason. There are just too many alternatives for them.
So there ya have it......my opinion on mom jeans!

Unwelcome Guest

I had a visitor this weekend. Not the kind you look forward to coming. The kind that once their here, you keep looking at the clock hoping they will go. But no such luck.......the flu decided to come unannounced, unwelcome, and has decided to stay for a long visit.
I usually am pretty resilient when it comes to sickness. For some reason the whole fam will get it and I sneak by without anything. I guess I have had enough "freebies" because this time it hit me full fledged! I'm talking 105 degree fever. Have you ever even seen that high of a fever?! I haven't and neither had my hubs. He was quite concerned for me and kept debating if I should go in to the ER.
The fever eventually broke, but my so called "visitor" has decided not to leave yet. Apparently he feels right at home and has welcomed himself to the rest of the fam as well. So this weekend pretty much consisted of sleeping, snuggling, p.j wearing and movie watching.
I'm just ready for our little guest to head on out, and take his baggage with him!

Girls Day

Yesterday was a day that was very much needed! I got to hang out with one of my best friends/cousin/fellow blogger for a girls day.......yup, no kids!! Now when I say cousin, really our husbands are cousins, but that makes us related, right?! To be quite honest, everyone thinks we are the ones related. Sisters, cousins, twins......we have got it all. We have even been mistaken for one another. I think you get my drift.
We started off my getting a manicure and catching up! Both long overdue. Its funny how you can see someone so often, yet realize you really haven't had a good heart to heart in a while. This journey called life, can just flash before your eyes, if you don't take time to smell the roses. We then headed to one of our fav restaurants.....Pita Jungle. Now if you have one in your neck of the woods, it is definitely a must try! You will LOVE it! My hubby is your typical meat lover, hamburger, all American kind of guy. He has actually turned the corner and likes it. Folks, this is big!!! No, I'm not sponsored by them......its literally that good!
All in all, it was a wonderful day with a great friend.
Check out her blog.......she's amazing! bexadiary.com

Count your Blessings

Wow, what a sad world we are living in these days. Each and every day there are horrible tragedies, and disease consuming people over and over again.  To be quite honest I don't ever watch the news.....and I mean EVER! I know our world is crazy! I don't need to see it first hand. As long as I'm aware, I don't see anything wrong with it. Besides, with all the social media its not like I'm really out of the loop.
I was approached by a lovely women named Heather, that asked if I would share her story on my blog. I was happy to help her get the word out about the dreaded disease known as cancer.
She is a 44 year old women that is a mother to a 7 year old little girl. When her daughter was just 3 1/2 months old, Heather was diagnosed with Mesothelioma. A type of cancer that kills 90-95% of those who have it. You can imagine her thoughts, as she wondered how she was going to take care of her daughter and watch her grow.
She then went through intense treatment and recovery and is so happy to say, she is still here 7 years later, cancer free. Through all her pain and struggles, she would like to turn that into inspiration and awareness, since this can be 100% preventable. Please check out her blog for more information mesothelioma.com/blog/authors/heather
You never know what life has in store for you. So we all need to enjoy every moment and
count your blessings!

Letting Go

Hello everyone.....and happy Martin Luther King day! The kids have the day off and we are going to spend the day hanging out as a fam! Oh, how I just love days like this. Nothings better than spending the day with your lovelies. And my girls say they know just the thing to do.
So, my youngest daughter has "convinced" me to go get her hair cut. Im thinking a trim.....but she had a different idea in mind. She wants it short like her big sis. They want to be twins, she says.....hence, the matching all the time. I'm struggling with parting with her long hair though. I know its just hair and it can grow back, but short hair makes you look more grown up and I'm not ready to say goodbye to my little girl. The world has these innocent kids growing up too fast as it is.
But she really wants it, so I think it's time for mommy to let go.........

obsessed

Well, let me start by saying I am loving my glasses these days.....my hubby, not so much. For some reason, I have literally been grabbing these little suckers every day. They have been my go to piece. Which is kind of odd if you think about it, since I do not wear glasses or contacts for vision purposes. These are strictly for good ole fun and fashion. And especially since the lenses in them are so bad, that occasionally I have to lift them up to actually see better. Horrible.....huh?! Oooh, what we will do for fashion.
Let's just say......I'm obsessed!

Baby, that's cold

Well the cold has finally hit the good ole state of Arizona. C-CO, C-O-L-D, cold! Sorry, the cheerleader in me wanted to make a debut. And I'm talking cold! My car temp read a whopping 29 degrees, while flashing ICE. Never in the 7 years that I have owned that car, have I ever seen the word "ice" appear on it. Baby, that's cold!!
I am beginning to become a great fan of it though. And could very much get used to this. I mean bundling and layering are a few of my fav's.  Just trying to take it all in, because before you know it, our lovely state will soon be back in the 100's.
So keep the cold a coming!

Boys will be Boys

Well my boys are officially growing up......welp, welp!! Zane got his first haircut and Race has started the dreadful "potty training". Now this isn't my first go around in this area, but for some reason I don't remember it being this difficult. Either my girls was just pros when it came to potty training, or I literally can't remember the horror of it. They say (not sure who "they"are) boys are more difficult than girls. So, maybe that's why. Probably a mixture of all three......who knows!
In result of our challenges, we have pretty much stayed home all week. Which is kind of making me go bonkers. I'm definitely not a home body, so you can understand my craziness. And this has resulted in me scrubbing it 24/7.
Need less to say......I'm ready for potty training to be over!

Best. Christmas. Present. Ever.

I can not explain how excited I am to tell you about the most wonderful Christmas present I got this year. I am always excited when I get something I really wanted, but this was different. It was something I didn't even ask for, or excepted. Well, let me rephrase that........I knew my daughter had a holiday shop at school and I figured she would get me something, but never expected this. I was picturing a frame that said "world's best mom", a mug or something. Least those were the things I always picked out for my parents as a kid.
I was excited for this gift before I ever even opened it. Just the look on Keiley's face is something I will never forget. She was so exited to have me open this and proud of herself at the same time. As parents, whenever your child gets you something its always special. Just to think there little hands made it just for you, or they picked it out is priceless. But as I unwrapped this gift and saw this little black box, immediately the tears started to come.......yes, I'm one of those......"emotional"!! I opened it to see a beautiful cross necklace. My jaw dropped and could not say anything. Now, I began to weep.  Overboard.......na! Not when it's something this meaningful.
Keiley ran up to me, gave me a big hug and squeezed me tight! Like it was the first time she has seen me in years.  She told me that when she saw it, she knew it was perfect for me and I would love it!
She was right!
Best. Christmas. Present. Ever.

Resolutions

Well folks, here we are in 2013! A new year, a new beginning......excited for life!
I am not really the gal that makes resolutions. I do set goals and always try to become better in every aspect of my life, but making a resolution, is just setting yourself up to fail. I mean someone can't really diet 365 days can they?! Or maybe this just means I'm a failure to them.....don't know. But in life we all have set backs and failed attempts. And I believe thats actually healthy and ok. As long as you try again and come out of that set back with knowledge and don't try to bring it forward with you, its all good.
So weather you make resolutions or not, all in all, I hope you have a great/blessed New Year!

HAPPY NEW YEAR, from my family to yours.
